Wine – 2005 Shenandoah Vineyards Special Reserve Zinfandel, Amador County

01092007a.jpgI really liked the 2004 Shenandoah Special Reserve Zin when I had it a little while back, so when I saw a new vintage was in, I didn’t hesitate to give it a go.

This is a completely unpretentious and fun wine. The nose is all brambly raspberry fruit… and that’s exactly how it tastes. This is a really tasty glass of blackberry and raspberry fruit with a nice, gentle dose of tannins to hold it together – not complex, but damned tasty.

This is a wine to sip while watching a movie or sitting around with friends. Everyone will be happy and probably mention that the wine is tasty, but they won’t have to mull over layers of flavours or aromas. It’s easy, and sometimes that’s a really good thing.

$20 – 22 in wine shops here in Vancouver.
